Who's got the craziest supporters in their stands?
Georgia
On the Friday before the 2008 Georgia vs. Florida game, classes were canceled in the Clarke County, Georgia school district because there wouldn’t be enough teachers. The year before, 137 had called in “sick” the day prior to the game, and the schools could find only 113 subs.
Alabama
Alabama fanatic Nathan Davis’ tats include ’60s QB Ken Stabler, Bear Bryant quotes, rammer jammer on the underside of each forearm (“so when I pray, the Almighty Father knows where my heart is”), roll tide down his triceps, and a full-back portrait of Bear Bryant.
Clemson
When Clemson ousted legendary coach Tommy Bowden after the Tigers started the 2008 season 3-3, a fan named Dave called into Charleston’s Live 5 News and cried on-air. He said he was “torn up” and squeaked through sobs, “The whole program’s in shambles!” until he was cut off.
USC and UCLA
Last year a USC vs. UCLA brawl left one person stabbed in the cheek, another in the back, and three men arrested. “The fans are pretty passionate about their football teams,” said Pasadena police commander Darryl Qualls, in the under-statement of the season.
Alabama
After Alabama beat LSU in 2008, two Crimson Tide fans “celebrated” with a heated argument that turned into a gunfight, leaving one of them -- and his wife -- dead. Congrats, ’Bama fans, you’re officially the nuttiest dudes in football.
