There’s really only three types of people who fly first class: businessmen traveling on the company account; the rich and famous; and those who have saved up our hard earned for a holiday of a lifetime.
Whatever category you fall into – I’m in the latter – here’s ten of the best first class seats in the sky that will see you travel in luxury and style at 30,000 feet.
EMIRATES
The seats are mini-suites that have sliding doors and give passengers complete privacy as well as including individual storage, vanity desk and a personal mini-bar.
CATHAY PACIFIC
The airline offers seats that turn into full-length beds, privacy screens on the aisle side and “sleepsuits”.
It’s every air traveller’s dream to have a freshly cooked meal on board a plane – and that’s exactly what Cathay offers with its kitchen complete with rice cookers and skillets.
SINGAPORE AIRLINES
At 35 inches the airline claims it has the widest seat in the sky, as well as having the biggest screen, at 23 inches.
Passengers are given Givenchy sleep suits and slippers to relax on their seat – which turns into a bed complete with sheets and pillows. Following that they are given a choice between Dom Perignon and Kurg champagne.
LUFTHANSA
The airline’s new first class cabin provides seats that convert into two-metre long beds, with personal monitors and meals from top chefs around the world.
JAPAN AIRLINES
Comfortable seats with air pockets and a built-in massager are included in Japan Airlines first class section.
ETIHAD
Diamond First Class includes limousines, lounges and seats with inbuilt massage.
VIRGIN ATLANTIC
The Upper Class Suite has plenty of space with a wide variety of entertainment options, with the seat-bed 84 centimetres wide.
QANTAS
Sleeper beds, various lumbar positioning and handy controls feature. Food is prepared by Rockpool, including an eight-course tasting menu.
QATAR AIRWAYS
Be treated like a star with a personal BMW chauffer service, lie on the 180 degree seat and eat a 10 course meal.
AIR INDIA
The seats offer a 180 degree recline and the airline puts in a variety of special touches in to stand out from the crowd.
